About

Built by people who needed it.

Thaw is made in Texas. It started as one household's problem: fifteen years of documents filed through Evernote, then a self-hosted paperless-ngx on a Mac mini in a closet, and the slow realization that every tool left the same work with the person.

You still had to carry each document to the tool. Later, when it mattered, you had to find it, and hope it was there at all. If it was, you opened it and worked out for yourself what it said, what it meant and what to do about it.

Thaw takes on the whole of that. Documents find their own way in. Anything you have is findable by what it says. Most days you do not need the document itself, because what it says is already on the screen: the date, the amount, and what to do, with the page one click away. And when you say the word, Thaw does something about it: marks the renewal handled, refiles the document, links it to the right person.

We have spent the last decade building software for owner-run businesses, which is why Thaw treats the business as a full member of the household, and why the year-end package for the accountant is built in.

Sign-up is open, and the free plan sorts your first 100 documents. The work is done by Thaw's own AI, and your documents are never used to train anyone's models. Hosting is on Amazon's cloud in the United States. How it is kept is on the security page.
