A calendar you never type into

Every date in Thaw comes from a document: a term end on a policy, a due date on a bill, a notice period in a lease, an expiry on a passport. Until now they lived in one place, the Up next screen. Two new ways to meet them.

Subscribe in your calendar

Settings has a calendar link. Paste it into Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook as a subscription and every open item in Up next becomes an all-day event. The event carries the title, what happens if it is missed, the steps, the phone number from the document, and anything Thaw prepared (last term’s premium, the form to bring). An alarm fires at the lead time Thaw chose for that kind of date, 30 days for a renewal, less for a bill.

When the next document arrives and closes the item, the event goes away on the next refresh. Nothing to tick off.

Three details, because a calendar link is a credential:

• The link is a long random token, scoped to one family or business. Anyone holding it can read your dates. Treat it like a password.
• Issue a new one from Settings any time; the old link stops working that second.
• Identifiers never appear in the feed. The policy number stays in Thaw.

The Monday email

Every Monday at seven, one email per family or business to everyone in it: anything past due, everything due in the next 30 days, what is waiting in the Inbox for a look, the gaps in the checkup that matter most this week, and how many documents were filed last week.

If there is nothing to say, no email. A weekly “all clear” would teach you to ignore it.

What it is not

It is not a to-do app. You cannot add an item that has no document behind it, because Thaw would then be the thing you have to keep up to date. If something matters and there is no paper for it, forward the email or take a photo of the letter; the item appears on its own.
